The '59 Sound adalah album kedua The Gaslight Anthem, dirilis pada 19 Agustus, 2008 oleh  SideOneDummy Records.

Pada Desember 2008, eMusic menetapkan The '59 Sound sebagai album terbaik  2008. The New Musical Express atau NME menetapkannya sebagai album terbaik ke 47 pada tahun 2008. Sedangkan The ’59 Sound memperoleh chart ke 62 pada daftar 100 Lagu terbaik 2008, versi Rolling Stone's.
Pada Juli 2009, bersama Bruce Springsteen's,  The Gaslight Anthem melaksanakan konser di Glastonbury Festival dan Hyde Park, London, cukup membantu mendongkrak penjualan album ini.
Lagu "Here's Looking At You, Kid" digunakan Serial TV Chuck episode "Chuck Versus the Tooth".
Single pertama album ini, yang juga bernama The ’59 Sound dirilis pada 22 Juli, bersama lagu "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" pada B-side. "Old White Lincoln" dirilis sebagai single ke-2 pada 1 Desember, 2008 in Inggris. Lagu pembuka, "Great Expectations" dirilis sebagai single ke-3 yang juga di Inggris pada 23 Maret, 2009.
